Becoming a Law Review Member

Incoming second-year law students achieve membership in the Law Review via a competitive "write-on" process that tests legal writing and technical editing skills. Second-year students become editors when they complete an original note or comment and gain requisite production experience.

The 2024 Write-On will begin Wednesday, May 15 at 8:00 A.M. and will close Sunday, May 26 at 11:59 P.M. You do not need to be in Davis to participate.

Upcoming Events/Trainings

  • Demystifying Law Review: Friday, April 12 at 12:00-1:00 P.M. in King Hall 1301 
  • Mandatory Write-On Training: Wednesday, April 17 at 12:00-1:00 P.M. in King Hall 1001 or Thursday, April 18 at 4:00-5:00 P.M. via Zoom

Students must attend one of the sessions in order to be eligible for the Write-On. Students who are interested in completing the Write-On but are unable to attend a training session should reach out to Charlie Rieder (

Transfer Students

We strongly encourage transfer students to apply for membership on the UC Davis Law Review. You do not have to be in Davis to participate. Please contact for more information about the transfer Write-On.
